Had a small 4cyl engine shipped from NY to Chicago. I specified on the uship auction that I will be using an engine hoist to unload the engine - I do this all the time. They said fine, and the shipping was about $150.

First, they were late big time, in breach of contract basically. Communication was non-existent, I had to reach out to them about ETA's and even then I was given vague estimates on when it will actually arrive. In the end the engine arrived several days later. When it did arrive, the driver was rude. He did not want to allow me to unload the engine using a hoist for whatever reason, even though that is how we always unload crated engines at the shop. We don't have a loading dock, which is the only way he insisted it will be unloaded. When I turned around to go get the hoist, he just left without saying a word!

Fast forward two days later, the engine arrives again on a smaller truck with a lift gate. I did not request one, I was not even told what they will do, they simply took it upon themselves to do it.

This was back in December of 2014. Fast forward to July 22nd, 2015. I get a spliced together email advising me that there will be an upcharge of $185 for the lift gate service, which I did not request, and that I should email them back if I have objections. I did email them back with my objections but they charged my card immediately anyways and never replied to my email. Now why would they all of a sudden, 7 months later, attempt to do this?

One more detail, the CC charge authorization form that I filled out and signed specifically states that I am NOT to be held responsible for additional charges as they may see fit, without my specific consultation and authorization first. So what they did by upcharging my account is downright fraud. I am currently disputing the transaction and I want everyone to know how these crooks conduct business. This process now is going to cost me time, and their "cheap" initial freight charges are just not worth the hassle you will get in the long run!

Reason of review: Pricing issue.

Monetary Loss: $185.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Uship Pros: Initial price quoted.

Uship Cons: Late with delivery, Deceptive practices, Upcharging, Lack of communication, Fraud.

Location: Lake Zurich, Illinois
